Dear friends
We hope this finds you well. We have been a little quiet of late, due to coordinator illness and the demands of 2020. What a year!
However, we are really pleased to say that we are still working away in the background on building the new European Group website, and the move to joining Policy Press with Justice, Power and Resistance. Many thanks to the editors on their ongoing work with the journal.
Most importantly though, we want to take this chance to wish you all a restful holiday season. It has been a long year and, for the first time in its history, the EG did not get to meet as a group in person. We missed this a lot, and hope we can all reconvene next year in person.
Huge thanks goes to everyone who has continued to work – remotely or otherwise – with the Group, and who continued to strive for action and social justice throughout the year. 2020 has indeed seen huge political shifts – some positive, others less so. Our attention remains on challenging disproportionate and ever expanding social controls, deepening inequalities, and the undermining of civil liberties. It has been amazing to see so many members continue addressing these challenges throughout such a difficult year – from environmental harms to border related deaths to the violence of confinement, members continue to inspire on efforts toward social justice and state/corporate accountability.
We aim to convene online with an AGM in February/March so we have a chance at proper discussion and hear more fully from everyone. In the meantime, however, we wish everyone a restful and rejuvenating holiday and hope you can spend time with loved ones safely, in person or otherwise.
Most of all, massive thanks to everyone for keeping the spirit of the EG going, and take care as we move toward 2021.
In festive solidarity!
